6-12 Curriculum

Options Virtual Charter School provides a venue for a customized educational experience for students. Families participating in Options have access to core curriculum, certified teachers, administrators, classes, and co-curricular programs. Instruction for grades 6-12 will be delivered in the following ways:

Virtual Learning
For our students who may not be local or are unable to meet face-to-face, they may select classes delivered completely virtually. These classes are selected with the oversight of a Teacher on Record from Options Virtual Charter School. A parent or guardian supervises instruction daily at home and communicates with the Teacher on Record via email, phone, conferences, and/or text messages.

Virtual Learning with Blended Support
Student support comes in many forms. Students may participate in weekly study sessions that provide the student with face-to-face teacher contact for curriculum support. Examples include Spanish, physical education, civics, and more. In addition our staff provides special education support and 504 accommodations.

Blended Learning: Virtual and at EAMS/EAHS
A mixture of Virtual Learning and attending face-to-face classes at Elkhorn Area Middle School or Elkhorn Area High School. Some students may want a specific course offered in-building. They may enroll through Options to attend the middle or high school class and continue with virtual classes through Options.

College Credit in High School

Under the umbrella of Options Virtual Charter School, and in partnership with Gateway Technical College and UW-Whitewater, Options will provide local 9th - 12th grade students with the opportunity to earn technical diplomas, professional certifications, and even associate degrees from Gateway Technical College while enrolled in high school. Courses completed at Gateway will also count as high school credit. If you are not local we will work with the technical college and university near you. That way, students not residing locally can have the same opportunities to gain college credits with the technical college and universities near them

Students planning to attend four-year institutions will be able to complete up to 30 transferable credits (all UW-System Schools) through a technical school or complete courses in partnership with UW-System Schools allowing them a path to graduate college with a BA or BS in three years.

The purpose of this program is to truly prepare our students for a career or give them a head start in college. We can’t think of a better opportunity than sending our students out ready to make a livable wage or be well prepared for college and in a position to save thousands of dollars.
